The construction of a China-funded National Nephrology Hospital in Polonnaruwa district of the north-central region of Sri Lanka has been completed, reported Newswire. In 2015, China agreed to fund the construction of the hospital during the visit of the former Sri Lankan President Maitripala Sirisena.

The project cost around $61.5 million. Former President Srisena said the gift from China is now ready to be handed over to the government of Sri Lanka. The hospital is equipped with modern technical equipment and has five operating theatres and two intensive care units.
