A municipality in Sri Lanka has created an eco-friendly coffin by recycling discarded paper and cardboard to place the bodies of Covid 19 victims.

The Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia Municipal Council (MC) has taken the initiative to prevent the felling of trees and destruction caused to the environment.

SLPP Councillor Priyantha Sahabandu from the council said the coffins are being created out of material made by recycling discarded paper and cardboard.

Priyantha Sahabandu further said a coffin could be purchased for Rs. 10,000 (USD 50.39), Newswire reported.
