Japan will donate ten ambulances and nine sea ambulances to the Maldives, announced the archipelago’s Health Minister Ahmed Naseem, to support the country’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the Maldives had signed an agreement for 96 ambulances with Japan. Naseem also informed that they were looking to procure 15 more sea ambulances. Earlier, Japan had donated 21 ambulances to the country.

The government early this month faced heat when a ten-year-old girl died as she couldn’t get the ambulance on time. Thereafter, the government had announced fast-tracking the procurement of ambulances.
