The Covid 19 pandemic could cause a  major catastrophe in Sri Lanka if proper measures were not taken immediately, an expert has warned. “It is of utmost importance to take all necessary steps collaboratively and appropriately, if we are to avoid major havoc in the coming weeks,” Senior Consultant Physician at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama told mediapersons.

He advised people to follow the Covid protocols diligently. "People must wear masks properly, use hand sanitizer, wash their hands properly and should maintain physical distancing. It is also important to avoid large gatherings."

“We are paying the price for our bad behavior three or four weeks ago. If we fail again to follow the health rules religiously, a major catastrophe would be inevitable,” he said, Daily Mirror reported.
