O waning moon, where do you go?
Why are you not on constant show?
Dark it is when you’re not there –
No chandeliers with you compare.

Majestic, radiant, silver globe
Encircling the world with a magical robe,
So pure you are and crystal clear
Nights with you yield no haunting fear.

Your absence is a strain on the eyes,
Aimless walking till sunrise,
We see the stars in the dark of night –
You’re not there and they’re not bright.

Oceans obey your commands
They rise and fall on your demands,
What is man supposed to do
When dogs go crazy at the sight of you?

Romantic hearts you set alight
In the silvery glow of a starlit night,
Moonstruck lovers, hand in hand,
Ardent gazes on shining sand.

Clouds are grateful to you all right,
For you it is that gives them sight;
No silver linings without you,
And without hope what would we do?

Simple beauty, so sublime
Can’t do justice with my rhyme;
Don’t know why they call you blue,
Nothing more joyous, nothing more true.

My heart’s aflutter in the quiet of night
At the touch of you and your silvery sight,
Your filtered rays through leaves so green –
Nothing so beautiful on the silver screen.

Take me with you, lovely moon,
I look at you and I swoon,
Your gorgeously rounded radiant face –
Such beauty, such passion, such wily grace.

Go back, O moon, to where you belong
You’ve stolen my heart, so I’ll sing you a song.
There’s nothing more pretty than a full moon, friends,
And this is where my story ends.
