Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has expressed concern at the Covid-19 situation in India but exuded confidence that it will tackle the crisis effectively with the support of dedicated experts and professionals.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajapaksa conveyed that the Buddhist clergy in Sri Lanka was planning to compassionately recite the ‘Rathna Sutra’ for the people of India, the Indian High Commission said.

Rajapaksa also expressed deep gratitude for the initial gift of 500,000 doses of made in India Covid-19 vaccines which enabled Sri Lanka to launch the first vaccination program, ahead of the original schedule.
