Bangladesh’s elite Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four members of a human trafficking gang, including the mastermind, from different areas in the country in connection with the sensational trafficking and sexual assault of a Bangladeshi girl in India.

Two of those nabbed were initially identified as Ashraful Mondal alias "Boss Rafi", the alleged mastermind, and his associate Shahida, ANM Imran Khan, RAB's legal and media wing assistant director, confirmed the arrests.

The gang is allegedly involved in trafficking the 22-year-old Bangladeshi girl, who was tortured and sexually assaulted in India recently.

After the video went viral on social media, Indian police on May 27 arrested Rifatul Islam Ridoy, known as "Ridoy Babu" on TikTok, along with five other Bangladeshis, from Bengaluru.

The Bangladeshi law enforcement agency began an investigation and unearthed a transnational racket, involving some Bangladeshis, which trapped victims using the social media platform TikTok, The Daily Star reported.
