Dhaka: Around 100 doctors and healthcare workers have been infected with coronavirus so far in the country, according to a tally of Bangladesh Doctors Foundation.

Of them, 54 are doctors, Nirupam Das, chief administrator of Bangladesh Doctors Foundation told The Daily Star.

They collected the information from the authorities concerned, he said.

Of the infected doctors, two are now at ICU, he said.

Meanwhile, 209 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 1,012, according to Directorate General of Health Services.

The death toll now stands at 46 with deaths of seven more coronavirus patients in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 1,012.

A total of 1,905 samples were tested in 17 PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) laboratories across the country, Dr Nasima said, adding that nine more such laboratories are being prepared to conduct the tests.

Meanwhile, 5,083 people were put in home quarantine across the country and 429 in institutionalised quarantine in the last 24 hours, the official said, adding that 89 people were kept in isolation during the time.
