The Sri Lanka Air Force has manufactured a heated humidified oxygen therapy unit for COVID-19 patients which costs just over $1500, reported Newswire. The country’s National Medicine Regulatory Authority has granted approval to the unit. 

Anticipating an oxygen crisis, the Engineering Corps of Air Force has started working on the project. At the begining, they have estimated a cost of around $7500 for the device however, it was completed with around $1500. 

The device is capable of delivering temperature-controlled oxygen with full humidity at high capacity to patients with respiratory complications.

On Thursday, Sri Lankan Air Force presented the device to Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Currently, the government has planned to manufacture around 50 of it.
