Resilience

The bare tree with leaves again

The bare tree with leaves again,
The drooping flower of yesterday,
Blooming afresh in colours bright,
Resilience is what I say.

The downcast spirit that I was
Vibrant now with a new dawn,
The darkest night I ever saw
Gone forever, with the new morn.

The combat when all seems lost and done,
Resignation floating in the air,
The will to fight back and succeed
And meet upheaval, fair and square.

The hope that lies beyond despair,
The silver lining of the cloud,
Journey’s end and thoughts of heaven
Resilience, beyond the looming shroud.

Life is resilient against all odds
The ends tugging at the sleeves
Of the garment that life also wears,
Buffeted by the ‘Reaper’s’ breeze.

Engrave the word in both heart and mind
Set as if in stone,
With 'Resilience' as your friend in need
You will never need to walk alone.
