Why hold back tears let them fall
You need them to,
As does the ground beneath your feet
When there is no falling dew.

There’s a sweetness about falling tears
In the honesty that lies tbere,
We’re not crocodiles, friends
So why pretend you care.

Why be ashamed to cry at all
Everyone does we know,
Raindrops fall from the sky
Why be shy to let them show.

We cry when we’re happy, don’t we
So, why not when we’re sad,
When you’ve shed them and feel lighter
You’ll surely be glad you had.

How else shall we handle grief
Beating of the breast is insane,
When the aching heart is crying within
Writhing in sorrow and pain.

Tears are the only panacea
The universal remedy,
The only sensible way there is
To deal with tragedy.

So, let them flow and freely
They’ll cleanse and ease the heart,
Light will slowly lighten the darkness
And, tears play the vital part.
