An intense heat wave swept across the National Capital Region Wednesday.

The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi was 43.4 degree Celsius, stated the Palam observatory of the India Meteorological Department.

Nearby Gurgaon (Gurugram) also reported a soaring temperature at 44.7 degree Celsius.

The temperature in both the cities was over 7 degree Celsius more than the normal temperature for this time of the year.

Due to the increase in temperature, the India Meteorological Department has classified it as "severe extreme heat".
