Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has launched a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation last night in search of an Indian fishing boat that had sunk and its fishermen who were illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters.

The Navy said the Indian fishing boat sank in Sri Lankan waters about 8 nautical miles (15 km) within the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) northwest of Delft Island, following a resisting arrest incident that took place in the dark hours on 18th January 2021.
