As Nepal sees the deadly second wave of the coronavirus, Bangladesh has banned flights from and to Nepal, citing the risk of fast-spreading virus in the country, reported BDnews24.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has announced the decision on Sunday and added Nepal to the list of ‘high risk’ countries. The ban will come into effect from Monday. It had earlier imposed a similar ban on India.

Currently, a total of 38 countries are on its banned lists. Bangladesh was the first country to witness a spike in infections last month, prompting its authorities to impose a nationwide lockdown on 14 April.

For a few weeks, all flights, and public transport, were kept closed. Lately, it relaxed restrictions in a phased manner. However, intercity transport is still banned. It started international flights from 1 May.
