Pakistan has urged Muslim countries to show unity while dealing with the issue of Palestine, claiming a united voice would make an impact, reported Dawn. Its Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also criticized the recent incident of violence in the region.

“We can raise our voices individually [but] the issue will be noted when all 57 members of the Organization of Islamic countries (OIC) voice their support. A lone Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, and Indonesia can't do anything,” Qureshi was quoted as saying by Dawn.

He also said that the country’s prime minister, Imran Khan, during his recent meeting with the secretary-general of the OIC in Saudi Arabia, stressed that there was a need to unite the World’s Muslim community on the Palestine issue.

Turkey has also put forward a proposal to Saudi Arabia for calling a ministerial-level emergency meeting in the OIC to discuss the situation, said Qureshi, who had also received a phone call from the Turkish foreign minister.

“This is a matter of our belief, human rights, international law, and challenging an apartheid regime and we are ready to do that,” he said while interacting with media.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Maldives President, both, have condemned the Israeli actions in the region.

Hasina, in a letter to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, expressed sympathies to victims and urged the international community to take sustainable actions to avoid such incidents in the future.

Violence between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, which escalated since Monday, has turned into one of the deadliest conflicts between the two since the 2014 Gaza War.
