At least 40 people in Pakistan, including a college principal, have been indicted over 'objectionable gesture and vulgar dance' at a college festival after video clips of these events went viral on social media. Police filed a case on Wednesday against 40 people including the principal, some staffers and students of a private college at Hasilpur, in  Pakistan's Punjab province, for making allegedly objectionable gestures and indulging in vulgar dancing.

Bahawalpur DC Irfan Alia Kathiya ordered the police to register a case against them after video clips of the involvement of the college principal, some staffers and girls in "obscene activities" went viral. Meanwhile, the college has been sealed, local reports said.

Video clips showed that during the college event girls and boys were dancing on the stage, and the college principal and others also joined them, and also showered currency notes on them, Dawn reported.

On November 4, an event was organised by the principal and others, which violated the Amplifier Act by playing songs loudly. At the event, vulgar dance and objectionable gestures were allegedly made by the people on the stage and others in the hall, according to the police complaint.

The participants at the event violated "educational, moral and social values", the complainant added.

An action against the principal and his associates has been demanded. According to the police, no one has been arrested so far, Dawn said (SAM)
