Ten staff members at the Sri Lankan health ministry have tested positive for COVID-19. However, authorities said, the work of the ministry has not been affected by it.

According to a report in Daily Mirror, Dr. Hemanth Herath, the Deputy Director of Health Services, said ten employees tested positive, and only the work of the units where most cases were detected was affected. The overall ministry is working normally.

The ministry identified all individuals that came into close contact with positive people. The contacts have been quarantined, he said.

All cases came from four different units. He said all precautionary measures have been taken and currently, there is no fear of the spread to other ministries. On an earlier occasion too, a few cases were detected in the ministry.

The cases came into the light when four of the staff tested positive. Subsequently, six others turned positives during rapid antigen tests, he informed media.
