Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today inaugurated the construction work of the third stage of the Central Expressway from Pothuhera to Galagedara under the Central Expressway Acceleration Project.

Speaking at the inauguration of the third phase of the Central Expressway near Lihinigiriya on the Wadakada-Pothuhera road in Kurunegala, the Prime Minister said the rest of the construction of the expressway to central hill country can be completed in a few years.

“I am very happy to be able to start work on the highway. I am right in saying that this is a dream we have had for a long time. When we go to the hill country all the politicians ask me when they will be given a highway. So we can have hope now on that highway. We will be able to complete the rest of the work on the expressway that is starting today in a few years,” he said.
