A nine-year-old Bangladeshi-origin girl from England’s Manchester has completed a 40-km charity walk to raise £14,535 for street children in Bangladesh. Hannah Miah realized how fortunate she was in having a family and home after watching a disheartening video about street children during Ramadan, according to Dhaka Tribune.

She wanted to contribute, and s set a goal of £1,000 for herself. She surpassed her target and raised over £14,000 for the cause, thanks to overwhelming community support.

Hannah hoped her efforts would raise awareness of the everyday challenges that street children face, and that they would result in the rescue of as many children as possible.

According to the UN, there are an estimated 600,000 street children in Bangladesh and they are often abandoned or trafficked in the most heinous of circumstances.

Hannah's Mum, Jewel Miah, said: "The support from everyone in the community has been unbelievable and has brought everyone together.

"Hannah's School, Lyndhurst Primary, have also been supportive and are proud of her achievements."

Hannah received The Oldham Pledge high achievement award and Morrisons' Little Sunshine in the community award for her charity work

Hannah met her £1,000 target in two days, and everyone encouraged her to keep on with the initiative. The next goal was to collect £10,000 before Ramadan ended on May 13, which she accomplished on Friday, April 30.
