Sri Lanka's Sports minister Dullas Alahapperuma has ordered a full-scale investigation into match-fixing claims involving the finals of the 2011 cricket World Cup. On News1st’s Newsline program on Thursday, the then sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage alleged that Sri Lanka had “fixed” the final game with India, sparking controversy in the cricket-loving nation.

India had won the 2011 World Cup beating Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai.

Sports Secretary K.D.S Ruwanchandra had filed a complaint with the Special Investigation Unit to probe malpractices in sports, the sports ministry said in a statement on Friday.

He had instructed investigators to submit the progress of their investigations once in every two weeks, according to the ministry.
