Cinema halls to re-open in Sri Lanka after three months

All cinema halls in Sri Lanka will be opened starting 27 June, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development, and Cultural Affairs said on Friday (June 19)

All cinema halls in Sri Lanka will be opened starting 27 June, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development, and Cultural Affairs said on Friday (June 19).

“Permission will be granted to re-open cinema halls under strict adherence to health guidelines,” said Bandula Harischandra, the Secretary to the Ministry.

All cinema halls are required to be disinfected, prior to being re-opened.

According to Secretary Harischandra, a separate set of guidelines to be followed by the general public when visiting cinema halls will be issued in the future.

All Cinema Halls in the island were closed for close to 3 months since the 14th of March in line with the spread of COVID-19.
