Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she has shown a lot of humanity towards her political rival Khaleda Zia, opposition BNP leader and former prime minister who is under house arrest, and added that law would decide whether Khaleda would be allowed to go abroad for her treatment. She made the remarks at a news conference on Wednesday about her recently concluded tour of the United Kingdom and France.

Hasina remarked, "I will bring the killer with a garland of flowers? And how many times to show humanity? The law will do the rest of what I have done. What I have done for Khaleda Zia is not so much? I am not inhuman. So I made arrangements (for her) to stay at home."

Sheikh Hasina further said that before the attack on Kotalipara (against Hasina), Khaleda had said that Sheikh Hasina could not be the Leader of the Opposition, let alone the Prime Minister.

"Because then she knew I (Hasina) was going to die. But it is only God who kills. This is how I live," Hasina declared.

On the Climate Summit, Hasina said, "I believe that the Dhaka-Glasgow Declaration adopted by the Heads of State and Government of the 48 most climate-risky countries led by Bangladesh is the result of our country's leading role in climate diplomacy."

She also briefed the UNFCCC on various initiatives in Bangladesh, including the provision of updated National Determined Contribution (NDC), Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan and Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund. In addition, as President of the CVF, she spoke to world leaders about efforts to formulate a Climate Emergency Pact.
