Sunshine’s Just A Night away

How strange that it never dawned on me

How strange that it never dawned on me
That, Sunshine is only a night away,
A few hours of sleep, nocturnal dreams
And then, forgotten the plight of the yesterday

And, while it’s dark there are stars around
Dreams intersperse the ugly nightmares
While, step by step towards a new Dawn
I climb those morning’s lofty stairs.

From behind the hills or beyond the horizon
The rising Orb does a new hope bring,
As does my heart throb and happily
When I hear chirping birds, in unison, sing.

How simply true are simple words
And, Sunshine’s truly a night away,
Life’s like the changing seasons
Winter through Spring’s sprightly play.
