Vast stretches of arid land,
rivers that never know the sands to traverse.
In that continuity does impermanence lie
and the uncertainty of the last verse.

Life's poetic and prosaic to
a standard line rhyming mostly swaying
with the breeze.

Then as the pages of that book are
turned and they to rest dull and frosty,
it is all silent freeze.

Day turned to night, day after day,
the monotony of heavy passing time.
 
Nothing said, not a word,
till from somewhere in the distance you
hear a little chirping bird whose incoherent
soft sound, the dullness of it all breaks.

Little things like the streak of night
that breaks the agony of the dark night.

It's all it takes to set life a glow again
like the flowing lines of a poet's romantic pen.

The heart it is that sets apart the kind
beauty of women and the senseless pros of men.
Forgotten we have the meaning of life.

That which the river never does eternally
in its quest for losing itself as it
melts with the mighty sea peacefully.

Drones and phones and human clones
robotic indeed is life today.

God too will surely be in some disarray
regretting a lack the opening day.

We're getting lost, oh silly man, in the
created visions and mirages of a phantom
immortality in which does lie in silent weight the
tyranny of truth and life's reality.
