The gentle sounds of running water

No Greater Balm For The Soul

The gentle sounds of running water
The gurgles from the wooded stream,
Green and Blue, companions true
Willows, complete the beautiful dream.

Snow-clad mountains, peace abounds
The heart silent as never before,
Heaven on earth truly descended
What more would you want, what more?

Dip your fingers, play with the stream
Strum a guitar or do what you will,
The setting Sun and its orange glow
And, you’ve had more than your day’s fill.

Lose yourself in the midst of trees
In the colours of the Autumn leaves,
Let the winds toss your hair around
Let the face be caressed by the breeze.

The walk back home now full of hope
A starlit night and dreams of Dawn,
The sounds of water, a soothing lullaby
Sleep comes easy and so does Morn.

No truer friend will we ever make
No greater balm for the soul,
Than to have Nature as our closest mate
To make us feel alive and whole.
