If God resides in the hearts of men
As I believe He does,
Then He is here on earth, isn’t he?
Then what’s the heavenly buzz?

Let’s make up our minds,
Believers, And give
Him his rightful place,
And while we are at it
Why not a god – like face?

But no one’s ever seen him
So a Michelangelo wouldn’t do,
Just think what would happen
If someone thought of you.

Would you say blasphemy or would you say that’s me?
I know I am tempting fate and so do you,
But faith we know is blind, thank god for that,
Else we would have a trillion gods and that is true.

Just see the ‘gods’ that stride the earth
Tall, dark and handsome,
Slick of tongue and sleight of hand
Holding people to ransom.

Place god where you like
For He is beyond compare,
In men’s hearts ,
Or, up there.

Leave alone these ‘earthly’gods,
These men of weed andstraw,
Time then, my friends, don’t you think
We stopped looking at them in awe?

Let’s leave the Almighty in our hearts
And up there in the skies.
The sight of us prostrating before another
Must be horror to His eyes?
