Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has held a meeting with Madhav Nepal, whom he had suspended from his party CPN-UML a few weeks ago, in a hotel in the capital Kathmandu, reported The Himalayan Times.

In a sign of rapprochement with his party colleague, Oli, with the help of junior leaders, had scheduled a meeting on Wednesday at Marriott hotel in the valley. Mostly, he meets with leaders and his party colleagues either at his official residence or the party office.

Reports claimed the two leaders held one on one discussion for about an hour. The meeting was held in a cordial environment.

The move is being seen as the first by Oli in recent time to make up with his rivals. Earlier, he had suspended many leaders who were considered close to either Madhav Nepal or Pushpa Kamal Dahal, both former prime ministers.

Interestingly, the meeting came after four of its lawmakers defied his order and saved a provincial government allegedly on the instruction from Nepal. Also, Dahal-led CPN-MC, which still supports the Oli government, is planning to pull out its support.

Despite facing multiple rebellions in the last one and half years, Oli has managed to retain his post by hook or by crook. He clearly emerged as one of the shrewdest politicians in Nepal in recent time.
