India records highest Covid death toll even as infection rate falls

India’s Daily Recoveries outnumber Daily New Cases for the sixth consecutive day. An estimated 389,851 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours. India, however, recorded a spike in daily death count as 4,529 people died due to the COVID-19 virus in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health data on Wednesday.
This is the highest number of daily deaths recorded due to the deadly virus since it began in India last year.
The National Recovery Rate has grown further to touch 86.23%.
Continuing the positive trend, India records less than 300,000 new cases for three consecutive days. An estimated 267,334 New Cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
.Tamil Nadu has reported the highest daily new cases at 33,059, followed by Kerala with 31,337new cases.
On the other front, India’s total Active Caseload has decreased to 32,26,719. A net decline of 1,27,046 is witnessed in the last 24 hours.
It now comprises 12.66% of the country's total Positive Cases.
More than 2 million tests were conducted in the last 24 hours - the highest ever conducted in a single day in India - while the daily positivity rate has declined to 13.31%.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India has reached 186 million under Phase-3 of the nationwide Vaccination Drive, the Ministry of Health and Family 'Welfare said.
