Police arrest 730 people for violating curfew in last 24 hours

Sri Lanka Police have arrested 730 people in the 24 hours from Monday (18) 6 am to Tuesday 6 am, for violating the curfew

Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested 730 people in the 24 hours from Monday (18) 6 am to Tuesday 6 am, for violating the curfew.

The police also seized 252 vehicles during this period for traveling without a permit during the curfew.

According to the Police Media Unit, 59,765 persons have been arrested since the islandwide curfew initially imposed at 6 pm March 20th until 6 am today (May 19). The Police have seized 16,668 vehicles including, three wheelers and motorbikes during this period.

According to the Police Media Unit, 16,488 cases have been filed pertaining to incidents of violation of curfew regulations since the 20th of March and 6,000 people have been sentenced.
