Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Jawad Bajwa met US Charge d' Affairs to Pakistan Angela Aggeler and discussed several matters of mutual interest between Pakistan and the United States, a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

During the meeting, the overall regional security situation, bilateral cooperation in various fields, the fight against COVID-19, and recent developments in the Afghan peace process were discussed, the ISPR, media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.

Significantly, the meeting with the US envoy came days after Bajwa returned from Afghanistan where he had met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. British military chief General Nicholas Carter had also accompanied him during the visit.

Bajwa said that Pakistan has sincerely supported the peace process and a prosperous, stable, and peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of the region in general and for Pakistan, in particular, reads the statement released by the ISPR.

Pakistan has expressed interest in increasing bilateral cooperation with the US in all domains, particularly in the economic area.
