O Demise, thou art a friend true
When I feel lost and dark blue

O Demise, thou art a friend true
When I feel lost and dark blue
And, Time does not a word speak
To tell me how and where it flew!
But, strike you do, unthinkingly
That, which we call Destiny,
Young or old they matter not
The sword you wield, unflinchingly
But, when you take away the young
Lives, now still, that lie unsung,
The heavy hearts you leave behind
All contorted, squeezed and wrung!
Can you not, not strike the leaves
Can you not choose who silently grieves,
Can you not spare young flowers,
O Death Can you not just fell old Trees!
Can you not, O gentle be
Wherein lies the mystery,
Why must You be heavy-handed
Why don’t you always, only sleep with me!
