India recorded another day of decline in daily count as 152,734 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Monday.

The death toll in over a year due to the disease now stands at 329,100 with additional 3128 deaths recorded due to the virus.

There are over two million active cases in the country at present in a nation of over 1.3 billion people.  So far, 25 million people have been released from hospitals after treatment, IBNS said.

India is one of the worst COVID-19 hit nations in the world.

During the second wave of the pandemic India witnessed worrying pictures when people struggled to get hospital beds and oxygen in its cities, with numerous reports of people waited for beds in parking lots of hospitals, gasping for oxygen.  Many major hospitals reported shortage of life-saving medicines.

India crematoriums and burial grounds were overwhelmed as the country registered a record increase in COVID-19 deaths in this phase as compared to the first phase.(SAM)
