At the request of Sri Lanka, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army has sent an Air Force aircraft carrying a consignment of required personal protective clothing and other supplies for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control to the Sri Lanka Army.

The Defense Attaché of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Wan Dong handed over the consignment to the Officials of the Defense Ministry of Sri Lanka Wednesday, May 13 at the Bandaranayke International Airport (BIA).

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army while fully participating in the domestic fight against the coronavirus pandemic, implementing the important concept of building a community of human destiny advocated by President Xi Jinping, actively carry out international cooperation in the fight against the epidemic, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said in a statement.

The Sri Lankan Army is fully involved in the prevention and control of the Coronavirus epidemic in the country and the Military personnel face a greater risk of infection due to lack of protective materials.

The Chinese government has previously assisted the Sri Lankan government donating several consignments of protective materials and other medical supplies needed to control the epidemic.

The Embassy said the Chinese government will continue to provide timely and effective help for the Sri Lankan army to fight against the pandemic.
