Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has called upon Saudi Arabia to exempt  from quarantine Bangladeshi expatriate workers who complete the self-isolation routine before leaving the country.

Momen made the appeal during a telephonic interaction with his Saudi Arabian counterpart Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, a Bangladesh foreign ministry media release said on Saturday.

The Saudi foreign minister assured Momen that his government would consider the issue.

Momen thanked the Saudi government for allowing Bangladeshi workers in the KSA despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Currently, the Bangladeshi workers have to stay in seven-day mandatory quarantine after reaching Saudi Arabia.

Momen also sought the kingdom’s support for early repatriation of the persecuted Rohingyas from Bangladesh to their land of origin in Myanmar.
