Kabul: Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai urged for an immediate stop of the current war and other acts that cause the deepening of differences among the people of the country.

“As the history witnesses, no nation has got felicity through war, but the war has brought them pain, misery and destruction,” Karzai said in a statement.

He said that the continuing war accelerates the killing of Afghans and paves the ground for foreign meddling and conspiracies.

The people of Afghanistan are the victims of war more than any other nations and have been suffering losses and casualties, so they never want continuing war, but want a lasting peace, the former president said.

He believes that the intra-Afghan dialogues could be the only way to end the war and go toward a durable peace, asking the war parties to speed up peace process for the people’s salvation and put an end to their pains.
