The Maldives’s government confiscated the passport of Hassan Ali, Maldives’ former controller of immigration. Hassan has been facing an inquiry regarding a missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan.

The officer is accused of forging the travel documents in connivance with two other intelligence officers in an attempt to show that the missing journalist had travelled abroad.

The confiscation reports were confirmed by the Presidential Commission on Unknown Deaths and Disappearances which is investigating the case.
