The Sri Lankan government is gifting a plot of land to Yohani, the 28-year old singing sensation who rose to international fame - particularly in South Asia and in the Arab world - with her super hit Manike Mange Hithe song. The move came after Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa recommended in recognition of her contribution to the Sri Lankan music industry and in promoting the country's soft power.

A plot of land, located at Robert Gunawardena Mawatha in Battaramulla neighbourhood in Colombo, will be given to Yohani as a gift from the Sri Lanka government, reported Daily Mirror.

Yohani’s popular song in Sinhala, Manike Mange Hithe—now translated into several languages, including in Hindi — became a viral sensation in India almost three months back, with leading social media influencers and Bollywood actors, making Instagram reels on the song on the internet.

"Despite being in a foreign language the track became insanely popular in the country, especially on social media where netizens have been making reels and reaction videos on it," according to the website Jagran English. "And now people have come out with their own versions of the song in different Indian languages. Yes, right from Hindi to Bengali and Tamil to Bhojpuri, many have given their own twist to this famous number".

The popular song, first released as a single music video in July last year, was produced by Chamath Sangeeth. It became popular after Sangeeth collaborated with Yohani to release the duet featuring the original singer Satheeshan. On YouTube, it has over 193 million views.

In the last three months, she participated in several TV shows and performed in many concerts in countries like India and the UAE.
