The European Union (EU) has agreed to provide Euro 4.9 million in assistance for seven projects to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.

During a recent meeting with Minister Ranatunga, European Union’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Dennis Chaibi, has stated that the European Union (EU) agrees to provide a grant of Euro 4.9 million to revive Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, which has been crippled by COVID-19. The Minister pointed out that the relevant financial assistance will be provided for the series of proposals provided by the Tourism Promotion Authority.

These include development of travel guides, wellness tourism, providing relief to small and medium scale tourism entrepreneurs, social and security programs and upliftment of community tourism.
