Over 55 years after he began his lifelong affair with music, the 68-year-old Anup Jalota says singing gives him an inner smile that his worldwide audiences find so infectious. More than 200 albums to his name and the sobriquet ‘Bhajan Samrat’ (Bhajan King) sitting comfortably as a crown on his long and hugely successful career, Jalota also occasionally indulges in acting. Mumbai-based Anup Jalota spoke to Mayank Chhaya Reports in an interview shortened by his recording preoccupations but within those 30 minutes offered many glimpses of why he has his own lane to bliss.
