IN A TWO FRONT WAR, INDIA CANNOT COUNT ON THE US

The potential of a two-front war with Pakistan and China was recognised in 2009 by the then Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor. The debate regarding India’s capability to fight a war in which there is full collusion between China and Pakistan, has generally remained inconclusive. But some experts believe the collusive support of China and Pakistan to each other  is now a reality with China’s incursions in eastern Ladakh and with Pakistan stepping up cease-fire violations and troop movements along the border.   In conventional terms therefore, a two-front war scenario is no longer a matter of speculation. The study also examines whether India can count on the US in such a scenario.
