Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that Bangladesh must be a developed and prosperous country by 2041 and said her government has been working to surpass foreign currency targets of all sectors, including in the readymade garments industry, by exporting digital devices. She said the new innovations by the young generation were only possible as her government had pursued a Digital Bangladesh programme. 

PM Hasina said the "Soldiers of 2041" enriched with knowledge of science and technology were ready to turn Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country.

"Now, we have no tension as we have progressed much toward building a science-technology-knowledge based society. Bangladesh must be a developed and prosperous country by 2041, as its soldiers are ready to get this biggest achievement," she said.. 

According to news agency BSS, Hasina was inaugurating the Digital Bangladesh Day 2021 and distributing Digital Bangladesh Award at Bangabandhu International Conference Center joining virtually from Ganabhaban in Dhaka.

The prime minister also remotely opened some IT-related development schemes countrywide, including the Freedom Fighter Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Software Technology Park in Chittagong; Bangabandhu Smriti Ongan and IT Business Centre; Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Sylhet; Sheikh Kamal IT Incubation and Training Centre at Kuet in Khulna; and High-Speed Internet Broadband Connectivity in 2,600 union parishads, Dhaka Tribune said. 

She credited her Information and Communication Technology Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy, who is also her son, for building Digital Bangladesh as the idea was his brainchild. She said the more the young generation was familiar with the latest technology, the more they will be efficient to take Bangladesh ahead toward prosperity.

Separate audio-video documentaries were screened on how to transform Bangladesh into a digital nation on the occasion.(SAM)
