Special guidelines for Sri Lanka's garment factories

The Ministry of Health has decided to expedite the formulation of a series of specific guidelines for the maintenance of the garment industry in the face of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 viral disease.

The Ministry of Health has decided to expedite the formulation of a series of specific guidelines for the maintenance of the garment industry in the face of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 viral disease.

A senior official of the Ministry of Health said that the decision was taken at a discussion held at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) to educate factory owners on the health measures to be followed when providing solutions to the problems arising in the operation of garment factories due to spread of COVID-19 epidemic.

During the discussion, chaired by the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the factory owners have been advised to draw the attention of the staff to follow the measures that have already been implemented such as wearing masks, maintaining at least a meter of distance between people and measuring temperature of personnel at t least three times a day.
