US Special Representative to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad along with Commander of US and NATO troops in Afghanistan Gen Scott Miller on Thursday met Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss ongoing intra-afghan talks.

Calling intra-afghan talks as historic opportunity to end the war in Afghanistan, both leaders affirmed the need for reduction in violence.

Calling the current level of violence in Afghanistan as “unacceptable,” Khalilzad said, it is strange that the Taliban stopped attacking foreign troops but continues to kill Afghans.

“Both the leaders agreed that the opportunity must not be lost and past mistakes should not be repeated” reads a statement issued by the US Embassy in Islamabad.
