Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has been appointed as the Chair of Commonwealth Ministerial Group on Guyana, which works for the settlement of the Guyana-Venezuela territorial dispute.

He received unanimous support from all of the seven members of the group -- Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Britain, Canada, Guyana, Jamaica, and South Africa, said Bangladesh High Commission in UK in a statement released yesterday.

Bangladesh took over the chairmanship from South Africa for the Ministerial Group, which is currently overseeing the long-term territorial dispute between the British Guyana and Venezuela over their maritime territory.
