Afghanistan's chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliations, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, arrived in India Tuesday for a four-day official visit.

Calling India a key strategic partner, Dr Abdullah said, “Our historic relations with India is very important to us, and the role of India in establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan and the region is vital.” 

Dr Abdullah Abdullah, who is visiting India on the official invitation by the government of India, along with his delegation will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, foreign minister Dr S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

His visit to India comes just days after he visited Pakistan while his negotiation team, still in Doha, to negotiate a solution to put an end to the four decades of long war in Afghanistan.
