Nepalese king unveils new cabinet
Kathmandu, Feb 2: Nepal's King Gyanendra announced his new council of ministers Wednesday, a day after he sacked the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba government and imposed emergency in the Himalayan kingdom, reports Xinhua.
The king has appointed a ten-member cabinet. Ramesh Nath Pandey will be Foreign Affairs Minister, Madhukar Shumsher Rana will be Finance Minister and Dan Bahadur Shahi will be the Home Minister.
The other cabinet ministers are Radha Krishna Mainali - Minister for Education and Sports; Krishna Lal Thakali - Minister for General Administration; Buddhi Raj Bajracharya - Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; Ms Durga Shrestha - Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare; Tanka Dhakal - Minister for Information and Communications; Khadga Bahadur - Minister for Local Development and Ram Narayan Singh - Minister for Labor and Transport Management.
Gyanendra Tuesday dismissed the coalition government accusing it of failing to establish peace and democracy in Nepal. He assumed all executive powers for three years and imposed a state of emergency in the country amid condemnation by the international community.
