MALE: Abdul Hameed Zakariyya has been appointed as the Foreign Secretary, the President’s Office announced on Wednesday (Sept 1).

Zakariyya was serving as the Director General, International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zakariyya has served in the foreign service for over 18 years, during which time he had held various senior posts. Among the posts that he had held were Assistant Director, Deputy Director and Director of Foreign Relations, and Director of International Affairs.
