About 90 militants killed in tribal region: Pak Army
Rawalpindi, January 18: About 90 militants were killed Friday in fighting with security forces in the South Waziristan region of Pakistan, Online news agency reported.
According to Pakistan military's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a large number of militants attacked Ladha Fort with small arms and rockets around 10 a.m. local time.
Security forces retaliated with artillery, mortar and small arms fire, killing about 50 to 60 militants and dispersing the rest.
The troops suffered no casualty, the military said.
The military spokesman said that in another incident Friday, militants attacked a convoy of security forces moving on Jandola - Wana Road with rockets and small arms.
The security forces retaliated and about 20 to 30 militants were killed and four troops injured in the ensuing gunfight that lasted around an hour.
