Four security men killed in Kashmir gun battle ends

Srinagar, March 23: Four security personnel and a separatist guerrilla were killed Sunday in a gunfight on the outskirts of this summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir state, the police said here.
"We have completed the searches in the Dangerpora (Tailbal) area today (Sunday) afternoon and the cordon has now been lifted there," said a senior police officer here.

Five people - including three policemen, a paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force trooper and a separatist guerrilla - were killed when a raiding team came under heavy fire at Dangerpora (Tailbal) area, 12 km from Srinagar's city centre.

Two policemen were and a civilian was also injured in the gun battle.

Reports said taking advantage of the heavy firing, many militants managed to slip from the area.

"The slain guerrilla has been identified as Abu Hafiz of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit," the police officer said.
