Rajapaksa leaves for China for Asian leaders' meet

Colombo, April 9: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Wednesday left for China to take part in the multilateral Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference where he will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Pervez Musharraf and other leaders.

The conference is being held April 11-13 at Boao in China's Hainan province. The theme this year is 'Green Asia, Moving Towards Win-Win Through Changes'.

The Boao Forum for Asia was established in 2001 as a platform for high-level interaction between leaders from Asia and across the world, with the aim of promoting development goals of Asian countries through greater regional economic integration.

The Forum, to be ceremonially unveiled by Chinese President Hu Jintao, would be attended by several leaders including Australian Prime Minister Kevin Michael Rudd, Chilean President Michelle J. Bachelet, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim K. Massimov and Musharraf.
